Expo 2005
Te Wananga O Aotearoa, 9-15 May 2005
Opening
The opening ceremony started with a formal introduction by Te Wananga's Tip Ready.
Officially opened by Porirua's Mayoress Jenny Brash.
It was good to have the presence of local organisations such as Business Porirua and of course the members of Kiwi Ingenuity (Win) headed by John Poppleton. Also the organisations who had displays setup ie Marketmind,Iponz,3dm Design,Pipers, Win Angel Network just to name a few.
To all those who attended and supported this event thank you.
To take part in an event that promotes creativity, innovation and intellectual property within Porirua city is by no means a wasted effort.

John Poppleton
Thanks John for organising such an event to allow inventors/innovators to show their wares. To be able to introduce innovative ideas at this level to the public benefits all - innovators, the public and businesses.
To have a dream is one thing. To pursue it ,becomes reality.
Exhibitors:
Corner Solutions International Ltd
An impressive yet simple product- revolutionary, to say the least. The Roundy - a system for producing round corners on plaster board.

They have developed a way of producing a'bend' in plaster board(skirting and all!). Such a product eliminates hazardous sharp corners and is aesthetically appealing not to mention complying with cultural requirements of dwellings.
A solution to the common problem of easily chipped corners requiring repairs to the plaster as well as the paint work - a costly exercise especially for high volume landlords.
Safe,simple and sensible
3DMDesign

is for it to remain just that..an idea.

C-it - John Poppleton
Ahhh. The good ole 'C-it' invention thingy.
Reduces panic, stress, and the need for speed.

A solution to the ever present hassle of identifying your luggage at the airport.
A stretchy 'sleeve' that slips over the entire suitcase - on it you could have your company logo, club colors..Well. Hell! Anything, really, that would allow you to recognise your suitcase amongst all the other joe blogg of suit cases.
Now this invention did work. It was very easily spotted at the expo -it was the only one there, but, hey, it definitely stood out.
Yurt - Dave Banks
Well, an Expo is'nt an expo without a ...Yes. That's right… A Yurt!?

Dave had to do it. He just had to pull out the ole' Yurt'. A What? A Yurt..- simple translation....a Mongolian thingy equivalent to our tents.
These nomadic conquerors used these while... conquering!?.The're easy to transport, easy to install and very warm. Great for those always on the move. Traditionally made from animal hides and supported by wooden poles comes complete with a portable woodburner(well Dave's yurt had one anyway). Boy! Those Mongols had it sorted did'nt they?
Kiddy saddle-Clarinda Kwee
This very useful device, sturdy and secure, is designed to relieve the burden for anyone having to carry a child around during the day. This device , a 'seat' positioned at the hip, secured by a shoulder harness and strapped to the waste allows full support of the child, removing 80% of the weight off the arms and on to the hips. A necessity for all moms(and dads!) while shopping for …useful devices!!???.
It also allows concealment of fatty tissue around ones midsection.
